Companies in the US state of Ohio can now pay taxes with Bitcoin. This makes it the first government to allow payments in units other than the dollar.

For 23 types of tax, including fuel and sales tax, it is now possible to pay the amount due in bitcoins. With the recently launched OhioCrypto, entrepreneurs can pay their bills with bitcoins. OhioCrypto uses a bitcoin payment processor, with which the received bitcoins are most likely converted to dollars for the state.

Earlier, the states of Arizona and Georgia were also investigating the possibilities of accepting bitcoin payments. In both cases, however, the bills were not accepted, so it is not yet possible there.
